Virginia Bakery Remembered - Photos

Those of you who follow me on facebook have already seen these, but for those of you who are just stumbling upon the blog here this may be new.

Virginia Bakery Remembered has been out for a few months now and I thought I'd show you a little sample of what's inside!

To answer your question, yes, they do taste as good as they look! You can purchase Virginia Bakery Remembered by Cynthia Beischel & Tom Thie online at Amazon.com or Borders. Be sure to check out the official Virginia Bakery Remembered website, too, for Q&A with Tom, more recipes and photos! :)

A Sweet Little Thing

Hello again, friends! Today's blog is a special treat. This little girl is the precious new addition to the family of my friends. I took these photos months ago, but due to legal reasons I wasn't able to post them. Now that she's officially part of their family, I'm posting some photos of her. (Those of you who know this family, please do not use any names in comments for privacy reasons! Thank you! :])

Keele Family

I was in Covington, Indiana last weekend for a photo shoot and some time with my extended family. We had the opportunity to shoot in the beautiful home of one of my aunt's friends. Talk about a winter wonderland! We had a great time and got some really nice photos. :)

It was snowing the day of the shoot which added a wonderful effect to some outdoor images! I loved how the trees in the back yard looked with the snow drifts on the branches. :)

Ridley didn't quite understand the concept of dangling the mistletoe. Maybe we'll try that again when he's a little taller. ;)

Virginia Bakery Remembered

Hi, friends!

I've had this exciting news bouncing around in my head for awhile now, something that I've only shared with select close friends-- until now, that is! It's time to tell all of you about it. :)

In November of last year I began to work on a special project, shooting food photography. I was given the opportunity to shoot dozens of tasty treats for a book by Cynthia Beischel & Tom Thie. The book pays tribute to Virginia Bakery, a popular establishment run by the Thie family from 1927 to 2005 in Clifton (Cincinnati, Ohio) and includes recipes for many of their most famous (and delicious!) baked goods.

I worked with Cynthia and Tom for months-- shooting, editing, and sampling the foods for the recipes. ;) Now, it's finally time to share the finished product! The book is finished, I believe it's officially released as of this weekend, and it marks my first official publication in a book! Very exciting for me! :)

Virginia Bakery Remembered (ISBN # : 1609491149) can be bought online at these links:

As someone who ate many of the baked goods that were photographed for this project, trust me when I say-- it's worth checking out!

Due to contractual agreements, I haven't been able to post any of the photos from the project yet. I'll be sure to share a few selections once I'm able to do so! Stay tuned! :)

Arielle (Maternity)

Arielle is a lovely friend of mine. We met back when we were both really cool fourth graders sporting uniforms at our elementary school. Time's gone by since then, and we've developed a friendship (and a better sense of style!) over the years. I was able to see Arielle get married about a year ago, and now she and her husband are expecting their first
little one in October!

Congratulations, Arielle! You're beautiful- inside & out. :)

News & Notes

I've had people ask me about blog updates, which is more than fair, considering how long it's been since my last post! Things have been fairly busy since May, with many changes and new adventures beginning as others ended. But now, it's time to give some info on what's going on!

I've been shooting a lot of weddings recently, but not as a lead photographer. I have been shooting as a "second shooter" or "assistant photographer" for other people. Why? Well, it's a great way for me to get more shooting experience and learn from seasoned photographers who know what they're doing. So far, it's been wonderful. I've learned a lot, feel much more confident in my abilities as a shooter, and have seen some wonderful weddings. :)

I just started displaying some of my work at the Inner Peace Holistic Center- a great, peaceful spa on Walnut Street, downtown in Cincinnati. It's right by Jeff Ruby's, across the street from CVS. If any of you will be downtown for the Midpoint Music Festival weekend after next, that would be a great time to check it out.

I'm hoping to be releasing some information on a book I did some photographs for in the near future. It's a cookbook-- and trust me, the recipes are good. (I had some samples after the shoots!) This project started back in November of last year, so I'm glad to see it starting to come together so everyone can see the end results! I'll be releasing more information (and photos) from that when I can do so. Stay tuned!

For those interested in keeping up to date on the latest and greatest, the best way to do so is through the facebook page. You can reach that here or just search for KK & A Camera. I'm planning on moving my blog over to my website (kungerechtphotography.com), another reason the updates on here haven't been coming much lately. Until then, I'll come back here and let you know when new things come up!

Some new senior portraits will be here soon, too, so check back in the next two weeks for some photo posts! :)
